NUMERICAL MODELING OF GROUND WATER TREATMENT THROUGH CERAMIC MEMBRANES

نویسندگان

چکیده

Recent advances in oil field water treatment have led to the conclusion that conventional remediation techniques are expensive, slow and ineffective removing products from reservoir waters. The need introduce methods remove disadvantages of ones appearance modern depollution techniques, such as chemical, biological or thermal, etc. However, before starting a process, profitability study must be carried out compromise established between cost yield. article presents classic but also new, method (water with ceramic filters) which, even if it has quite high investment costs, proves its economic efficiency addition qualitative one protecting environment.

Hydrophobic Ceramic Membranes for Water Desalination

Hydrophilic ceramic membranes (tubular and planar) made of TiO2 and Al2O3 were efficiently modified with non-fluorinated hydrophobic grafting molecules. As a result of condensation reaction between hydroxyl groups on the membrane and reactive groups of modifiers, the hydrophobic surfaces were obtained. Ceramic materials were chemically modified using three various non-fluorinated grafting agent...

Numerical modeling of tunneling induced ground deformation and its control

Tunnelling through cities underlain by soft soil, commonly associated with soil movement around the tunnels and subsequent surface settlement. The predication of ground movement during the tunnelling and optimum support pressure could be based on analytical, empirical or the numerical methods. The commonly used Earth pressure balance (EPB) tunneling machines, uses the excavated soil in a pressu...

Numerical Modeling of Helical Static Mixers for Water Treatment

To improve the understanding of how static mixers work and how to better utilize them in environmental engineering ~or, specifically, drinking water treatment!, a numerical model for simulating turbulent flows in helical static mixers is developed. The model solves the three-dimensional, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations, closed with the k-v turbulence model, using a second-orderaccurat...

Effects of TiO 2 nanostructure and various ceramic supports in photocatalytic membranes for water treatment

The growing need for clean drinking water worldwide is one of the pressing issues of this century. The World Health Organization estimates that in 2005, 1.6 million children under the age of 5 died from causes due to unsafe drinking water. Low-pressure membrane filtration systems are likely to play an important role in water purification and reuse strategies. While these systems have low-cost a...

Numerical modeling of volcanic ground deformation

The aim of this work is to study natural processes which take place within the Earth crust and have connections with volcanic activity. When focusing on geological risk associated to volcanoes, it is known that the ground deformation and gravity changes are two indicators of volcanic activity, furthermore precursors of eruptions (see [3] and [5]-[9]). The modeling of the interaction between dis...
